Mauna Lani Golf
Mauna Lani Resort’s two championship Big Island golf courses, the Francis H. I’i Brown North and South, offer a challenging experience for golfers of all levels. Both courses are masterpieces of design, each strikingly different, yet equally challenging.  Previous host of the PGA Champions’ Tour Skins game for 11 years, these GOLF Magazine Gold Medal courses offer a magnificent scenic background of emerald green fairways contrasted against black fields of a‘a lava and the deep blue Pacific Ocean.

Professional instruction for private or group lessons are available with extensive practice facilities including putting greens and practice range. A fully stocked pro shop with logo apparel complements the Big Island golf experience.

North Course
At 6,993 yards, the par 72 North Course offers rolling terrain with fairways defined by ancient lava fields and kiawe wood forests. The 17th hole, a par 3 tucked into a natural amphitheater, is one of the resort’s signature holes. An extra bonus is sightseeing as you play - the northern boundary of the course is adjacent to a 230-acre protected archeological district. Herds of wild goats often frequent the course to the amusement of golfers.

South Course
The South Course winds through the jagged lava of the ancient Kaniku lava flow. Like its sister course to the north, the par 72, 7,029 yard course features dramatic panoramic views of mountains, fairways, lava fields, sea and sky.  The signature 15th hole, a par 3 over the ocean, is one of the most photographed holes in golf and is overlooked by Mauna Lani Point.

Historic Park Trail and Kalahuipua’a Fishponds
Mauna Lani is renowned for its long-standing devotion to preserving and enhancing the cultural history of Hawaii. Walking trails open to the public; have been marked throughout the 15 acres of fishpond preserve and the 27 acres of historic parks. A self-guided tour of ancient shelter caves, petroglyphs, and a prehistoric fishing village lets you step back in time.

Ancient Hawaiian created aquaculture ponds known as Loko i‘a by building rock walls across natural spring-fed water inlet on the ocean. This fishpond is an excellently preserved and restored example. They were stocked with special fish reserved for only Hawaiian royalty and used for significant ceremonies.
