Guest Review From TripAdvisor

Visitor from Denver, Colorado – August 2011

My husband and I just got back from a wonderful vacation at the Mauna Lani Point on the Big Island of Hawaii.  Our trip was from 8/10/2011 to 8/17/2011, we rented a one bed condo with fairway view J201 through Classic Resort.  I saw some reviews suggested rent directly through the owner, but we got a pretty good deal for $199/day, so we took it.  Of course, ocean view would be better if you had the $$$.

We had stayed at the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel in 2008, during that stay, while walking around the properties, we found this Mauna Lani Point, so, we decided to try the condo for a change.  Well, we are glad we did, there are so many good things about this property, I can’t list them all, but for us, we are big on snorkel, so beach quality is very important for us.  With this condo location, it comes with an easy access (2 min drive, or 12 min walk on a shoreline trail) to a private beach club, which has a very nice sandy beach, deep reef with abundant fish and coral, and the best of all, it is calm almost all the time, including afternoon, which is rare for most of other beaches.  I think the name the bay is Makaiwa Bay.  Finding a good snorkel site is not that hard, but a good snorkel site with all the comfort you need is hard.  That’s why this private beach club is such a great thing, parking lot was never full, cabana and beach chairs are more than enough to go around, oh, they are free by the way.  YEAH!! a restaurant on site with decent price and good food, you can also rent any beach toys with the rental shack too.

Ok, enough with the beach, the property itself is very well maintained as well.  One big feature we enjoyed the most is the outdoor BBQ area next to the pool, which is centrally located among the buildings.  It has 4 or 5 Grills and covered Pavilion with a fully equipped outdoor kitchen.  We had done dinner twice over there while watching the sunset, every pleasant.

Service of Aloha Employee Recognition

Norma Camero Executive Housekeeper Mauna Lani PointWe are honored to recognize Norma Camero, Executive Housekeeper for Mauna Lani Point, for her service of Aloha.  Norma has been with Classic Resorts for 13 years.  We asked her what she enjoyed about her job and she had this to say:  “I meet a lot of families at Mauna Lani Point and it makes me happy to see them come back year after year.  They call out “Hi Norma” and I remember them so well.  I see the kids who were little ones when I first met them and now they are in college!  One group I love to see started with some guests from many different places who met each other at The Point and just decided to start returning at the same time.  The group got bigger and bigger and now there’s about 70 who reserve at the same time of year!  Maybe the first time guests come for the oceanfront location but I think they return for the family feeling we have here.”
